COVID-19 Announcement – 17th Mar 2020

Dear Friends,

In the light of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and the latest Government guidelines we have taken the decision to stop all church meetings and also to stop holding public worship at this time. We will be live streaming an act of worship each week at 10.30 on Sunday mornings. This will be available on Trinity Gosforth’s YouTube channel. We will also produce this in printed format available on request. We believe this decision is in line with taking our responsibility as part of the community.

Contact details: Trinity office 0191 2856130

We are looking at ways of maintaining contact and offering support for the duration of this pandemic and if you are wanting support in any form, or able to offer support please contact the office as above.

We are also exploring ways in which we can keep the church open for individual prayer at times during the week.

A prayer offered by the URC:

‘God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.’
Psalm 46:1, NRSV

As so much is re-shaped by COVID-19, let us pray with

  • people left unwell, beckoned by death or bereaved;
  • people providing professional health care and advice, looking after loved ones at home or working to create treatments and cures;
  • people shaping the response of nations and neighbourhoods, of commerce and industry, of service and voluntary organisations and of communities of faith;
  • people who are anxious or afraid, alone or isolated.

Living, loving God,
we praise you,
and through times of peril we lean into you,
for in Jesus Christ
you have trodden paths as difficult as ours,
revealing there a love that nothing defeats,
a love that bears us through.

Even as we strive to behave responsibly,
and to care reliably,
so we feel after you
that in these uncertain times we might trust you are with us,
our refuge and strength,
and our faith, hope and love might be renewed,
through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Trinity Church will also be posting videos for the children and youth. This will serve as an alternative to the usual Sunday Young Church Groups. They will include puppets, crafts, stories, activities and some truly terrible jokes. These videos will be called “Extra”. If you’d like to access these videos, they will be appearing on the Trinity Church YouTube Channel. We shall be posting a video with some suggested resources which might keep the children and youth entertained, as well as nurturing their faith.
