Friday 2nd March

Day of Prayer at Trinity, in the Prayer Room, from 10am until 3pm.  In this time of change, prayer is so important.  Come for as short or as long a time as you can.  There will be a Service in the evening starting at 7pm, as part of the ecumenical World Day of Prayer.  The focus of our prayer will be Malaysia.  All welcome.

 

Saturday 3rd March

FUNdraising Coffee Morning at Trinity Centre starting at 10am.  This event is being run by Trinity Door Stewards, with the customary stalls selling Cakes, Preserves, Books/DVD, White Elephant, Raffle, Tombola and Cards.  Any contributions would be gratefully received.

Skiff Rowing at Cullercoats.  Grace will be taking to the water at Cullercoats at 10am.

The Rotary Club of Newcastle Gosforth are sponsoring a concert featuring Bede Wind, who will play a selection of pieces from modern musicals.  There will also be a contribution from Hadrian School Signing Choir.  Tickets £5 per adult, at Trinity Church, starting at 7:30pm.  All proceeds are in aid of Hadrian School (for disadvantaged children).

Trinity will be leading the weekly act of worship at St Oswalds Hospice, starting at 4pm.

 

Monday 5th March

Trinity Christian Community Centre Management Team Meeting in the Upper Room, at South Gosforth, starting at 7:30pm.

 

Tuesday 6th March

Lent Lunchtime Service, at Trinity Church, starting at 12 noon.

 

Thursday 8th March

Open Service at Trinity Christian Community Centre at South Gosforth, led by Rev Eden Fletcher.  The service starts at 7:30pm.  All welcome.

Mens Breakfast at the Trinity Cafe, starting at 8am.  Cost is £5 for a full cooked breakfast including tea/coffee and toast.  Numbers must be known in advance.  The speaker is Chris Lincoln, a member of Trinity Church.

Musical Society presents “Messiah” – a meditation for Holy Week, at Morpeth Methodist Church.  The afternoon workshop is at 1:30pm, for 2pm start.  The evening Service commences at 6pm.  Fee £3.

Womens Breakfast at the Trinity Cafe, starting at 8am.  Cost is £5 and includes a continental breakfast.  Numbers must be known in advance.  The speaker is Heather Galloway, who is a GP in Gateshead.  She is married to Ian Galloway, Pastor of City Church.

Communitas Conference.  This ‘Communitas’ day conference will be taking place at The Holy Biscuit, Clarence Street, Newcastle, starting at 10am, until 5pm at the latest.  The speakers on the day will be Mark Elder (Heaton Baptist Church, Newcastle) and Toby White (Dayspring Church, Leeds).  The theme is “What now for church?”  The cost for attending the event is £15 per person.  Bring something for lunch that you can share.

An Evening with John Grundy – the architectural historian and local broadcaster will give an illustrated talk entitled “North East Churches Throughout the Ages”.  At St Mary’s Cathedral, starting at 7pm.  Tickets £3 for the talk, or £8 for canapé reception following the talk.

 

Wednesday 21st March

Trinity Book Club, recommended read is ‘The Shadow of the Galilean’ by Gerd Theissen, a fairly short historical novel re-telling the gospel story through the eyes of an imaginary contemporary of Jesus.  Hopefully it will give us a fresh perspective on the events leading up to the crucifixion and make for an interesting discussion.  You are warmly invited to join us in the Trinity Ouseburn Room starting at 7pm.

Sing Lustily and with Good Courage.  A service at St Andrew’s Benton, starting at 6pm, led by Rev. Peter Rand and involving singing of Methodist hymns of the period 1738 – 1850.  Workshop at 1:30pm for those who can read music, pick up a tune quickly or players of instruments invented before 1850.  Light refreshments will be served after the service.
